2023 Fantasy Outlook
Ruckert played sparingly as a rookie after the Jets selected him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He finished with just one catch for eight yards and played more than six offensive snaps only twice. New York's tight end depth chart remains the same heading into Ruckert's second season, with veterans Tyler Conklin and C.J. Uzomah both in front of him, but perhaps an extra year of development will help Ruckert carve out a larger role in 2023. Read Past Outlooks
Lands on IR
Ruckert (concussion) was placed on the Jets' injured reserve Saturday.
ANALYSIS
This means Ruckert's season is over, and he will now have to set his sights on preparing for the 2024 campaign. He will end the year with 151 yards on 16 receptions across 15 games. In his absence, Kenny Yeboah and Zack Kuntz will be available to provide depth at tight end behind Tyler Conklin.

In line for more backup TE snaps?
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic believes that Ruckert could surpass C.J. Uzomah as the backup tight end behind Tyler Conklin.
ANALYSIS
Ruckert has played 132 offensive snaps over the last six games, which isn't far behind the 152 snaps of Uzomah. Rosenblatt notes that Uzomah's mistakes and lack of production over the past two games could open the door for Ruckert to take on a larger role in the offense. While he has mainly operated as a blocker -- he has just five catches for 43 yards -- he could see an expanded role as the backup tight end behind Conklin. Ruckert has been dealing with a shoulder issue over the past couple of weeks but is good to go for Sunday's game against the Bills.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Growing up a lifelong Jets fan, Ruckert was thrilled to be selected by his hometown team in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The rookie out of Ohio State will likely begin his career third on the Jets' tight end depth chart behind free-agent additions C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin. Ruckert had just 309 yards and three touchdowns as a senior at Ohio State, but there's believed to be some untapped receiving potential in Ruckert, who was far from a focal point in an offense that had two 2022 first-round picks at wide receiver (Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave) plus another likely first-rounder next year (Jaxon Smith-Njigba) also in the mix.
