Suns Host Clippers in Game 2
The Phoenix Suns play host to the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals at Phoenix Suns Arena on Tuesday. The Clippers (0-1) did an amazing job by taking care of the Dallas Mavericks in round one and following it up with an upset win over the Utah Jazz in the Western Conference Semifinals. The guy that carried them in those series was Kawhi Leonard, though, and he's not expected back anytime soon. The superstar small forward is currently dealing with an ACL issue, and it's unclear when he'll be ready to go. He was desperately missed in the Game 1 defeat on Sunday, too, with only two starters reaching double figures in scoring. That was Paul George and Reggie Jackson, with those two combining for 58 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, and three steals. They need more from their role players, but as long as those two continue to play the way they are, this series will stay competitive, hopefully. The Suns (1-0) have looked like the most impressive team in this postseason through two rounds, and they carried that over in the 120-114 Game 1 victory. What made that win even more impressive is that they did it without Chris Paul, who continues to be stuck in COVID protocols. He's been the heart and soul of this team all year, but Devin Booker took the club on his back in Game 1. He actually recorded the first triple-double of his career, finishing with 40 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists in one of the best postseason performances of the year. That shows just how big of a step this kid has taken, and it has the Suns in the midst of a seven-game winning streak. That's really tough to do in the playoffs, and it's hard to imagine it ending anytime soon if Kawhi continues to miss games for the Clippers. If a team grabs a 2-0 series, they win 83 percent of those series in NBA history. These cubs have played four times this season, splitting those meetings, with the home team winning all four fixtures.
