Out of UFC 296 due to illness
Brown's scheduled welterweight matchup against Muslim Salikhov at UFC 296 on Saturday has been postponed after Brown came down with an illness, Alex Behunin of MMA Mania reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a tough break for Brown, who was set to get a chance on a big stage as roughly a (-260) betting favorite. It's unclear whether the UFC intends to re-book these two at a later date in 2024.

Scheduled against Salikhov
Brown will compete against Muslim Salikhov in a welterweight fight at UFC 296 in Paradise on Dec. 16, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Brown will receive an opportunity to finish 2023 with a positive record. He lost to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 284 but redeemed himself with a decision win over Wellington Turman.

Improves to 5-1 in past six
Brown defeated Wellington Turman via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC on ABC 5 on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.
ANALYSIS
It was a strong, bounce-back effort from Brown on the heels of his first-round submission loss to rising star Jack Della Maddalena this past February. He used his massive frame to consistently overpower Turman -- a former middleweight dropping down to welterweight -- in tight over the course of the first ten minutes. That, combined with landing just enough in the striking game, won Brown the first two rounds. He was less effective in Round 3 when Turman was able to gain some space, but the fight was already over. Brown has typically struggled whenever tasked with facing better competition, but his 11-5 record in 16 UFC bouts is impressive. "Rude Boy" makes for excellent depth at 185 pounds.

Slated to fight Turman
Brown will fight Wellington Turman in a welterweight bout at a UFC Event in Jacksonville on June 24, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Brown's last UFC loss was a crushing one at the hands of Jack Della Maddalena in the first round. Prior to that February fight, though, he was riding a four-bout winning streak that went back to April of 2021. Now, he'll face the six-years-younger Turman, on who he has three inches of height and six inches of reach.
