Breese (leg) agreed Monday to face Omari Akhmedov (20-5-1) in a middleweight fight at the UFC's Jan. 16 event, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.

Breese (12-2-0) returns to the Octagon for the first time since Oct. 10, when he soundly defeated K.B. Bhullar via TKO in Abu Dhabi. The 29-year-old Englishman came out of the bout with a left leg injury, but his inclusion on the Jan. 16 card implies that he's gained full medical clearance at this point. "The Octopus" owns a 5-2 record since joining the UFC in 2015.

It's difficult to believe Breese entered this fight as ONLY a -210 favorite considering the gap in ability between the two. Breese has always had talent but has struggled with consistency. The 29-year-old has now alternated wins and losses in his past five fights. Perhaps this strong performance will get him going. At the very least, he'll take home a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts here.
