New opponent for debut

Buys will now be taking on a debuting Montserrat Ruiz at UFC Vegas 22 on Saturday, reports.
Buys is still set to debut on the same card as her husband JP, but it will no longer be against prospect Kay Hansen after Hansen withdrew due to unspecified reasons. Instead, she'll draw Ruiz, who is 9-1-0 as a fighter and 1-1 under the banner of Invicta FC. Buys has just six pro fights, and four of her five wins have gone to the judges. Nonetheless, she finds herself as a big betting favorite of -350 (or greater in some places) entering Saturday's bout.

High action leads to UFC contract
August 18, 2020
Buys defeated Hilarie Rose via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at Dana White's Contender Series on Tuesday. After the show, she was one of four fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
Despite having just six pro fights under her belt, Buys showed here that she's without a doubt UFC-ready. She was ready to engage in a firefight early, but when it was all said and done, Buys more than doubled her opponent in the unofficial striking stats. That could bode very well for her fantasy scoring prospects in future UFC matchups. The 25-year-old's fun personality -- she called out Dana White immediately afterwards for not replying to her Instagram DMs -- should make her a plenty-marketable asset for the UFC, especially if she can keep up high-energy performances like this one.
