Takes home second PFL title
Schulte defeated Loik Radzhabov via unanimous decision (49-44, 49-46, 48-47) at the 2019 PFL Season Championships on Dec. 31, winning the lightweight tournament and taking home $1 million.
ANALYSIS
Schulte won his second PFL championship after coming into the tournament as a No. 1 seed, but this was one of the closer fights of the evening. Per Tim Fiorvanti of ESPN.com, Schulte narrowly won the striking battle 120-117, and each fighter recorded three takedowns on the night. When it was all said and done, however, Schulte held more control time, and it was enough to take the fight in the eyes of the judges. The American Top Team product is now riding a seven-fight win streak, and will be well positioned for another title run in what will presumably be a shortened 2020 tournament.
