FanDuel NHL: Sunday Targets

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

The league takes a breather after 30 teams were in action on Saturday, leaving just one game for a lazy Sunday: a 3 p.m. EDT clash between the Lightning and Red Wings, the second half of a back-to-back.

Note the Showdown format with the designated Captain earning 1.5x points and four Utility spots for any position player.

GOALIES

As per usual with Showdown formats, no goalies will be available for selection.

LINE STACKS

Vladislav Namestnikov (W - $7,500), Adam Erne (W - $7,500), Filip Zadina (W - $9,000)

The jewel on this line is Zadina, who offers the most offensive upside on the team other than Jakub Vrana. It was also the only unit who managed to stay afloat with a 5v5 CF% at 50 percent on Saturday. Look for the Lightning to bury the Wings in possession again, so if the Red Wings are able to muster any offense, it's probably going to come from this group.

Brayden Point (C - $16,000), Alex Barre-Boulet (W - $8,000), Ondrej Palat (W - $14,000)

This stack makes the most sense. Other than Point and Victor Hedman, only Barclay Goodrow has scored more than one goal against the Red Wings. Point and Palat also lead with six points apiece.

VALUE PLAYS

Ross Colton, TB at DET ($6,500): The aforementioned Barre-Boulet also qualifies as a value play playing on the top line. Colton isn't nearly as fortunate as the fourth-line center, but his upside is undeniable. Not only did he score in the shootout, he's also tallied eight goals in 24 games and ranks ninth on the team with 0.44 P/GP, just below Anthony Cirelli ($9,000) and ahead of Tyler Johnson ($7,500).

DEFENSEMEN

Victor Hedman, TB at DET ($13,500): The temptation is to pick Hedman, but his play has trailed off over the last month. And with no dedicated spot for defenseman, he doesn't seem like good value.

Filip Hronek, DET vs. TB ($8,500): Hronek's the only Wings' blueliner really worth taking because nobody else really generates any offense. He hasn't registered a point in five games and hasn't scored a goal in over a month, but he's generally been pretty good at generating shots.

Mikhail Sergachev, TB at DET ($8,500): Sergachev played 25 minutes and finished with three shots and three blocked shots Saturday while making more sense in the Utility spot due to his lower salary and ice time compared to other forwards in the same salary range. He leads all Tampa defensemen with 21 shots in seven outings against Detroit.
