Gets new competition at receiver
WRChicago Bears
July 13, 2022
Pringle will face competition for the Bears' No. 2 receiver role after the team acquired N'Keal Harry from the Patriots on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Pringle is a new arrival in Chicago himself, having signed a one-year deal earlier in the offseason after posting a career-high 42 receptions, 568 yards and five touchdowns with the Chiefs in 2021. However, the 28-year-old already ran into some off-field trouble in the form of a late-April traffic stop in Florida, and he'll now possibly have to fend off the challenge of Harry, who has some pedigree as a recent first-round pick and brings much more impressive size than Pringle at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds.

2020
After spending three seasons with the Chiefs, the Bears signed Pringle, who should have a significant role in the offense. He earned most of his snaps in the slot in Kansas City, and if he does the same in Chicago, the 28-year-old could see a solid reception total. It's important to note that he tallied just 42 receptions and 568 yards last year in a pass-happy offense while playing a significant role from Week 10 through the AFC Championship Game. Overall, drafting Pringle as a volume-based depth option in certain formats makes sense.
Primarily lining up in the slot last season, Pringle turned 323 offensive snaps (including the playoffs) into just 13 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown on 17 targets. On the plus side, he did reel in 76.5 percent of his passes at an average depth of 10.6 yards and did well with the ball in his hands, notching an extra 5.3 yards on average after the catch. That doesn't mean a ton given his small sample size, however, and it's unlikely that his role will grow much in 2021 even with the departure of Sammy Watkins, given that Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson remain ahead of him on the depth chart.
Pringle closed out 2019 with just 12 catches on 16 targets for 170 yards and a touchdown, more than half of which came in a Week 5 clash with the Colts. With the Chiefs' entire crew of receivers set to return this season, Pringle's situation doesn't change much, as he's looking at a backup role with minimal offensive snaps again. Pringle was a contributor on special teams last season and will likely fill a similar role in that regard in 2020, assuming he keeps his spot on the 53-man roster.
