Skipping bowl game, headed for NFL
December 1, 2021
Turner has decided to skip Virginia Tech's bowl game and will declare for the 2022 NFL Draft, per his personal Twitter account.
ANALYSIS
Turner was limited to just two snaps against Virginia in the team's regular-season finale versus Virginia due to injury and it appears that will be his last appearance in game action for the Hokies. The junior finishes out 2021 with 40 catches for 675 yards and three touchdowns and will now begin prepping for his attempt at a pro careeer.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Turner entered 2019 looking poised to breakout and become one of the ACC's more dynamic receivers, and while his 34 catch, 553 yard, four touchdown final tally was a disappointment, he somehow still lead the Hokies in receiving. That speaks far more to irratic quarterback play than Turner's ability or perceived failure, and it could set him up to be a bargain in 2020. At a minimum, Damon Hazelton's 527 yards and eight scores opens additional opportunity for Turner, though he's more of a dynamic playmaker than a clear red zone target. The key for Turner will be improved quarterback play, and/or greater trust from the coaching staff in letting Virginia Tech's quarterback(s) make throws. It's difficult to see Hendon Hooker starting the entire season if he's not earning the opportunity to challenge defenses vertically, where Turner excels. Turner garnered 24 rushing attempts, so it's clear the staff wants the ball in his hands, but uncertainty under center makes Turner a gamble on the surface, but on talent alone, it would be irresponsible to write off the promise Turner entered last season with. He profiles awfully similar to North Carolina's Dyami Brown in that he doesn't need huge volume to provide a big return, and could far exceed his likely 2020 draft position as a buy low candidate.
