Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Jarrell Brantley, son of Darrell and Priscilla, was born in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1996. Brantley lit it up at the high school level, blossoming into a star at Ridgeview High School in Columbia, South Carolina, where he spent his freshman and sophomore years. He then transferred to Montrose Christian School in Rockville, Maryland, for his junior and senior years. At Montrose, Brantley averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds under the tutelage of head coach Brian Bartley. After high school, Brantley spent a year at Notre Dame Preparatory School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where he averaged 13.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, as his Crusaders advanced to the National Prep Championships. Brantley chose to play collegiate basketball at his hometown College of Charleston, where he majored in business administration over four years. Jarrell Brantley demonstrated consistent progress over the four years (2015-2019) he spent at College of Charleston throughout his college career. During his freshman season (2015-16), Brantley started all 31 games in which he appeared and averaged 11.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 28.4 minutes per contest. His per game thefts ranked ninth in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). As a sophomore, his playing time increased to 32.0 minutes per game, which led to increased per game averages of 14.2 points and 8.4 rebounds. Brantley was then named to the 2017 All-CAA Second Team. A knee injury forced Brantley to miss the first seven games of his junior season. He returned for 24 contests, averaged 17.3 points per game and again earned Second Team All-CAA honors. Brantley returned healthy for his senior season and started all 33 Cougar games. He finished his senior season named to the 2019 All-CAA First Team, CAA All-Tournament Team and NABC All-District Second Team. Brantley closed out his four-year career at Charleston ranked third all-time in career scoring with 1,914 career points and fourth all-time while also grabbing 968 boards.

ANALYSIS
Brantley appeared in three games over the course of his 10-day deal, averaging 6.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.3 three-pointers and 1.0 assists in 9.7 minutes per contest. Utah has four players on the injury report heading into Wednesday's game in San Antonio, so the team could be motivated to re-sign Brantley to a second 10-day deal if for no other reason than to have another healthy body available.

Brantley, selected with the 50th overall pick in the 2019 Draft, will join the Jazz on a two-way contract, meaning he'll spend most of the upcoming season in the G League. A 6-foot-7, 250-pound senior out of Charleston, Brantley was selected to the All-CAA First Team last season with averages of 19.4 points on 13.9 shots, 8.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals across 33.9 minutes. He appeared in four summer league games for the Jazz, but struggled offensively, averaging 8.8 points on 9.3 shots, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 21.6 minutes. Considering he'll spend most of the season in the G League, Brantley has virtually no fantasy value as a rookie.
