Taylor Widener

Widener impressed in his first taste of Double-A last year, finishing the year with a 2.75 ERA over 25 starts and one relief appearance. His supporting statistics backed up his results, as he struck out an impressive 31.9% of batters while walking just 7.8%. The righty was seen as having a lot of relief risk heading into the season due to worries about his changeup and command, though improvements to both have increased the likelihood that he can stick in the rotation. He'll likely be starting the year in Triple-A, but it's not impossible that he could get some starts in the big leagues late in the year. Alternatively, the team could decide he'd be useful in the bullpen, where his deceptive, low-slot delivery could make him an interesting weapon.
