Available for selection
FEssendon Bombers
August 24, 2021
Hooker will be available for selection in the elimination final against the Western Bulldogs after appearing in a scratch match.
ANALYSIS
Hooker hasn't played since July and though he's set to retire after the season, still has a little more life left in his footy game, should he get selected for Sunday's contest.

Announces retirement Monday
FFree Agent
August 16, 2021
Hooker announced his retirement Monday, Jon Ralph of the Herald Sun reports. He'll finish his career at the end of the season.
ANALYSIS
Hooker spent all of 14 of his professional seasons with Essendon and will ultimately retire as a Bomber. He was an All-Australian selection in 2014 and won the W. S. Crichton Medal in 2015.
Round 20 matchup postponed
FEssendon Bombers
July 30, 2021
Hooker and Essendon won't play against Sydney on Saturday after the match was postponed, Mitch Cleary of the AFL's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Saturday's contest was one of three AFL matchups that was postponed due to COVID-19 issues in Queensland. The teams are hopeful that they'll still be able to play this weekend, but it's not yet clear whether they'll be cleared to do so.
Scores five in loss
FEssendon Bombers
May 2, 2021
Hooker scored five goals and one behind to go with 15 disposals (10 kicks, five handballs) and took seven marks during Sunday's 123-107 loss to Carlton.
ANALYSIS
Hooker has led the Bombers in goals scored on two different occasions this season. Aside from that, his production has fluctuated more wildly through a lack of touches. If he can change that theme, Hooker could compete with Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti and Jake Stringer as the top forwards on this team.
Game-high five goals in victory
FEssendon Bombers
April 3, 2021
Hooker scored five goals and added 13 disposals, six marks, two behinds and a tackle, clearance and goal assist each Saturday as Essendon knocked off St. Kilda 143-68 at Marvel Stadium.
ANALYSIS
Hooker's five goals marked both a game-high and personal-best and currently leave him with nine on the season, tied with Richmond's Jack Riewoldt for fifth-best in the AFL. Unfortunately, such prolific scoring hasn't translated into noteworthy fantasy numbers so far this season, with the defender averaging a paltry 60 points an outing through the first three rounds of 2021.
Limited production in third game back
FEssendon Bombers
September 7, 2020
Hooker tallied nine disposals (seven kicks, two handballs), seven marks and one behind during Sunday's 108-42 loss to the Cats.
ANALYSIS
Hooker was playing in just his third game since returning from a calf injury. After a strong showing against the Hawks, he has struggled over the past two games. The loss leaves the Bombers only a slim chance of making the finals and based on what we have seen over the past two weeks, that certainly seems unlikely.
