Season ends during suspension
DSt Kilda Saints
October 13, 2020
Long's 2020 campaign came to an end while he was serving a one-match suspension in the semi-final versus Richmond.
ANALYSIS
Long was handed a one-match ban for the contest, so, while he won't be able to return in 2020, he should be clear heading into the 2021 campaign. He finished out the season averaging 12.3 disposals (6.3 handbells, 6.0 kicks), 3.3 marks and 2.0 tackles over 15 matches played.

Tabbed with one-match suspension
DSt Kilda Saints
Suspension
October 6, 2020
Long has been hit with a one-match suspension ahead of Friday's semifinal versus Richmond.
ANALYSIS
Long and the Saints attempted to appeal the ban to no avail, positioning him to miss the semifinal barring a late change of heart from the tribunal in a last-ditch attempt from St. Kilda. Assuming that doesn't change anything, which is expected to be the case, Long would have his next chance to return next week should the Saints advance.
Suspension served
DSt Kilda Saints
August 4, 2020
Long has served his suspension and could be in the mix for Round 10 versus Collingwood, Chris Nice of the Saints' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Long is no longer on the hook as far as the suspension goes, but the Saints' recent strong play on the back end could still leave Long on the outside looking in. Regardless of his status, Long doesn't consistently put big numbers from a fantasy standpoint, likely relegating him to a lineup filler spot for DFS purposes.
Suspended three games
DSt Kilda Saints
Suspension
July 14, 2020
Long has been suspended three games for a bump against Fremantle's Sean Darcy on Saturday that resulted in Darcy suffering a concussion, Marc McGowan of the league's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Long has landed on the shorter side of bans for an infraction of his severity but will miss the next three matches. He has no recourse for an appeal, so Long will be looking at the first full week of August for his return to the field.
Gets reported for high hit
DSt Kilda Saints
Suspension
July 11, 2020
Long collected 14 disposals (six kicks, eight handballs) and five marks but was also reported for a high hit that concussed Sean Darcy in the second quarter of Saturday's 79-73 loss to Freemantle.
ANALYSIS
Long who hasn't been the most prolific of players, has still managed to collect double-digit disposals in all but one match. Yet, this is the least of his worries after making a poor tackle that could result in a lengthy suspension, and he'll await the league's final word on his conduct in the report Sunday.
Returns to training
DSt Kilda Saints
June 4, 2020
Long returned to training Wednesday from a long-term ankle injury and will be ready to play in Round 2, according to Head of High Performance Matt Hornsby.
ANALYSIS
Long suffered the injury in Round 1 before the break and made significant progress while rehabilitating on his own. After showing no latent signs of any problems during a simulated match May 29, Long was well on his way to feature when the league resumes play.
