Harry Morrison
Out for Round 14
MHawthorn Hawks
Hamstring
June 17, 2021
Morrison (hamstring) has been ruled out for Round 14.
ANALYSIS
Morrison was likely to miss this game after picking up a hamstring problem last week. It remains to be seen how much longer he will be out.
Alec Waterman
Has calf injury
MEssendon Bombers
Calf
June 17, 2021
Waterman suffered a calf injury and will miss Round 14 against Hawthorn.
ANALYSIS
Waterman has played five times this season and scored seven goals. With no more than 68 fantasy points scored in a single game, his value isn't high.
Shane Mumford
Out with back injury
RGreater Western Sydney Giants
Back
June 17, 2021
Mumford suffered a back injury and will miss Round 14 against Carlton.
ANALYSIS
Mumford hasn't scored more than 66 points in his last five games, so his absence will put more pressure on Matt Flynn at ruck to win his positional battle than on the rest of the team through a loss of his production.
Will Setterfield
Needs surgery for fracture in hand
MCarlton Blues
Hand
June 17, 2021
Setterfield suffered a fractured metacarpal in his hand and will miss the next two-to-three weeks, his club announced Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Setterfield most recently scored 91 fantasy points from one goal and nine marks in Round 12 against West Coast, though the returns of Harry McKay and Nic Newnes will help to fill the gap.
Shaun Higgins
Managed for Bulldogs clash
MGeelong Cats
Coach's Decision
June 17, 2021
Higgins is being managed for Round 14 against the Western Bulldogs.
ANALYSIS
Higgins is making way for Cameron Guthrie's return to the lineup after topping 100 fantasy points in two of his last three games. Seeing as Higgins barely reached 85 points when the Cats were healthier as a team, his value may not be so high after getting pulled from the team for a major game between the second and third-place teams.
Luke McDonald
Should play Round 14
DNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Pectoral
June 16, 2021
McDonald (pectoral) is expected to play Round 14 against Brisbane after going through Thursday's training session.
ANALYSIS
McDonald hasn't seen game action since Round 4 due to a torn pectoral, but he's on track to retake the field this weekend after missing the past two months.
Charlie Curnow
Out another month
FCarlton Blues
Knee
June 16, 2021
Curnow (knee) will need a month of full training before being reevaluated for a potential return to game action, AFL Ratings reports.
ANALYSIS
Curnow missed the entirety of last season after undergoing knee surgery and is in the final stages of his recovery. He could take the field during the second half of July if all goes well in his return to full training.
Luke McDonald
Nearing return
DNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Pectoral
June 16, 2021
McDonald (pectoral) could return in Round 14 against Brisbane, according to his team's media report.
ANALYSIS
McDonald hasn't played since Round 4 and he didn't last long in that game. If he doesn't return against the Lions, a return in the next couple of weeks shouldn't be out of the question.
Gryan Miers
Plays in practice match
FGeelong Cats
Leg
June 16, 2021
Miers (leg) played in a practice match and could return in Round 14 against the Western Bulldogs, according to coach Chris Scott. "He's coming back from a fractured fibula, he's missed a fair bit of running, so he's behind in comparison say a player that's had a shoulder issue but can still run would be. So, we are probably leaning towards being a bit more cautious with Gryan's return."
ANALYSIS
Don't expect Miers to be at full-strength just yet, though an appearance at any level would confirm his fitness following a hairline fracture suffered in his fibula at the start of May. When fit, Miers offered decent value for a forward with 15.9 disposals and 4.7 marks per game.
Willie Rioli
Set to return Aug. 20
FWest Coast Eagles
Suspension
June 16, 2021
Rioli's two-year anti-doping suspension is set to end Aug. 20 and set to return to the club for training after the bye, according to Nathan Schmook of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Rioli also dealt with legal issues during his long ban but still managed to keep his place with the Eagles. How he adapts with new teammates that arrived during his ban will be key to how successful he is during his late-season return.
Darcy Moore
Out for season
DCollingwood Magpies
Knee - PCL
June 15, 2021
Moore (knee) is likely to miss the remainder of the season with a PCL injury.
ANALYSIS
Moore was injured in Monday's match versus Melbourne. The 25-year-old will be in a leg brace for six weeks, which makes it unlikely he'll have time to recover for any matches late in the season. The defender finished the year with averages of 17 disposals and 8.2 marks per game in 13 matches.
Stefan Martin
Slated to play
RWestern Bulldogs
Shoulder
June 15, 2021
Martin is listed as a test to play in Round 14 against Geelong, according to head of sports medicine Chris Bell. "The weekend off will do Stef well and we are optimistic he will be right for our round 14 clash."
ANALYSIS
Martin pairs well with Timothy English as the top two ruckmen for the Bulldogs but both have recently dealt with injury issues. If all goes well, Martin should be back to face the Cats.
Easton Wood
Slated to return
DWestern Bulldogs
Hamstring
June 15, 2021
Wood (hamstring) is in line to return in Round 14 against Geelong, according to head of sports medicine Chris Bell.
ANALYSIS
Wood is reportedly back in full training and should have good odds to make the starting lineup, even if he doesn't produce much for fantasy.
Luke Shuey
Slated to play in WAFL
MWest Coast Eagles
Hamstring
June 15, 2021
Shuey (hamstring) is set to start in Saturday's WAFL game in order to complete his recovery.
ANALYSIS
Shuey has played just one time this season but a return is on the horizon for the Eagles captain.
Sam Wicks
Picks up suspension
MSydney Swans
Suspension
June 15, 2021
Wicks has been handed a one-match suspension by the MRO or an incident from the Round 14 loss to Collingwood.
ANALYSIS
Wicks has had a quality season but will be held out of an important match against Port Adelaide. Look for his return in Round 16 against the West Coast Eagles.
Harry Perryman
Making progress
MGreater Western Sydney Giants
Hamstring
June 15, 2021
Perryman (hamstring) is listed as a test ahead of the Round 14 match against Carlton, according to Head of Medical Cullan Ball. "He's ramped up training and will do again on Thursday during the main session. Should he get through that we would expect him to be available for selection this weekend."
ANALYSIS
Perryman hurt his hamstring in Round 9 against Richmond after making a solid start to the season. If he's able to get on track quickly, Perryman will be a decent mid-tier midfielder in a deeper list of fantasy options from the Giants.
Sam Collins
Needs to pass tests
DGold Coast Suns
Ankle
June 15, 2021
Collins (ankle) is listed as a test for Round 14 against Port Adelaide, according to head physiotherapist Lindsay Bull. "He'll be putting a lot of work into that this week and we'll have to test that at the back end of the week to see how that's travelling before the game on the weekend."
ANALYSIS
Collins missed his first game of the season in Round 13 against Fremantle as a late scratch and needs time to prove his fitness. His best performance of the season came with 23 disposals and 12 marks on May 1 against Collingwood.
Cameron Guthrie
Hopes to return in Round 14
MGeelong Cats
Shoulder
June 15, 2021
Guthrie (shoulder) is listed as a test for Round 14 against the Western Bulldogs, according to Mitch Cleary of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Guthrie has yet to play in June and is on track to return for a premier clash with the Bulldogs. If he does play, Guthrie has scored over 100 fantasy points in five straight games.
Sam Simpson
Now has quad issue
MGeelong Cats
Hamstring
June 15, 2021
Simpson suffered a quad injury during his recovery from a hamstring injury and his return has been pushed back, according to Mitch Cleary of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Simpson has played just one time this season and will hope to return before the home-and-away stage is completed.
David Zaharakis
Has hamstring injury
MEssendon Bombers
Hamstring
June 15, 2021
Zaharakis picked up a hamstring injury and is listed as a doubt for Round 14 against Hawthorn, according to Callum Twomey of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Zaharakis missed much of the first two months of the season and has only played four times at the AFL level. It's unclear when he could return, though at his best Zaharakis recorded 22 disposals and six marks in a single game.
Harry McKay
Signs new contract
FCarlton Blues
Concussion
June 15, 2021
McKay (concussion) signed a contract extension with Carlton what will keep him tied to the club through the 2023 season.
ANALYSIS
McKay adds two more years to his deal in the midst of a season in which he could easily win the Coleman Medal as the league's top goalscorer. If the timing is right, McKay should also be back from a concussion in time for the coming game against GWS in Round 14.
Ryan Lester
Out up to month
DBrisbane Lions
Hamstring
June 15, 2021
Lester is expected to miss three-to-four weeks with a hamstring injury, according to his club's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Lester has struggled with soft tissue injuries throughout his career and is now out with another one. After a 91-point performance in Round 3, Lester hasn't been able to contribute much in fantasy.
Jordan de Goey
Picks up suspension
FCollingwood Magpies
Suspension
June 15, 2021
De Goey has been suspended one-game by the MRO following a high hit dished out in Monday's Round 13 win over Melbourne.
ANALYSIS
De Goey cleaned out Melbourne's Clayton Oliver and was soon whistled for his actions. He'll now be out until July 2 as the bye leaves only one more game left to play in June.
Hunter Clark
Out for extended period
DSt Kilda Saints
Jaw
June 13, 2021
Clark (jaw) will miss the next 6-8 weeks after suffering multiple fractures to his jaw in Saturday's loss to Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Clark was crunched by Adelaide player David Mackay while attempting to scoop up a loose ball and now could be sidelined for up to two months. Mackay's hit was been referred to the Tribunal for additional review, although he has not been charged for anything just yet.
Jack Petruccelle
Withdrawn late
FWest Coast Eagles
Hamstring
June 13, 2021
Petrucelle was replaced by Jake Waterman in the lineup for Round 13 against Richmond due to his hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Petrucelle was originally in the starting lineup but his name was cut as the roster was contracted. He's scored 13 goals in nine games this season and his season-high of 81 points from Round 3 doesn't offer much for fantasy.
