Marcus Bontempelli
Active in GF loss
MWestern Bulldogs
September 26, 2021
Bontempelli scored three goals and made 25 disposals (13 kicks, 12 handballs) during Saturday's 140-66 loss to Melbourne in the Grand Final.
ANALYSIS
A Brownlow contender for much of the year, Bontempelli struggled for consistency in possession over the final weeks of the season but still attempted to make up for it with three majors in the final game. He should still be proud of his efforts in 2021 with 26.8 disposals per game as captain and take more momentum into next season.
Adam Treloar
Scores three in GF loss
MWestern Bulldogs
September 26, 2021
Treolar scored three goals and logged 27 disposals (11 kicks, 16 handballs) during Saturday's 140-66 loss to Melbourne in the Grand Final.
ANALYSIS
Treolar put up some solid numbers down the stretch but injuries and inconsistency meant he couldn't always be trusted in 2021. With a good effort in a lopsided GF loss, Treolar should still carry some confidence into next season.
Caleb Daniel
Logs 37 disposals in GF
DWestern Bulldogs
September 26, 2021
Daniel recorded 37 disposals (26 kicks, 11 handballs) and made six marks during Saturday's 140-66 loss to Melbourne in the Grand Final.
ANALYSIS
Daniel had the most disposals among the Dogs by a wide margin and remained active even as the 'Dees pulled away after halftime. Throughout the season, Daniel proved capable of putting up big numbers, though this performance was his best, and he's not the one who should be leading when Premierships are on the line. Heading into 2022, Daniel is a decent alternative when the other stars on his team don't perform as well.
Bailey Smith
Scores four in win
MWestern Bulldogs
September 11, 2021
Smith scored four goals to go with 23 disposals (16 kicks, seven handballs) during Saturday's 116-45 win over Port Adelaide in the Preliminary Final.
ANALYSIS
Smith has scored seven goals over his last two games in addition to recording 50 total disposals. As Marcus Bontempelli hasn't played so well for a while, Smith could easily be the second-best option from the 'Dogs in the Grand Final.
Jack Macrae
Excellent in win
MWestern Bulldogs
September 11, 2021
Macrae recorded 36 disposals (22 kicks, 14 handballs) and made six tackles during Saturday's 116-45 win over Port Adelaide in the Preliminary Final.
ANALYSIS
Macrae stepped up his game at the right time with 36, 39 and 36 disposals over his last three starts. Going into a massive Grand Final against Melbourne, he'll take on the leading role for the 'Dogs in the center of the park.
Laitham Vandermeer
Hurts hamstring in win
DWestern Bulldogs
Hamstring
September 11, 2021
Vandermeer suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday's Preliminary Final win over Port Adelaide, according to the AFL.com match report.
ANALYSIS
Vandermeer also scored one goal in this game but picked up another injury. With a longer window until the Grand Final, he'll have more time to return if his injury is minor.
Alex Keath
Will miss Prelim Final
DWestern Bulldogs
Hamstring
September 9, 2021
Keath will miss Saturday's Preliminary Final against Port Adelaide due to hamstring tightness.
ANALYSIS
Keath doesn't add much fantasy value with an average of 12 disposals per game but he's still an absence in what will be a tough game. With any luck, he'll get another chance to play if the 'Dogs stay alive in the finals.
Marcus Bontempelli
Listed in lineup
MWestern Bulldogs
September 9, 2021
Bontempelli (knee) made the initial team sheet for Saturday's Preliminary Final against Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Bontempelli had hurt his knee late into the last round against Brisbane but he's already in the next lineup as a rover for another prime-time matchup with the Power. He's failed to log over 30 disposals in three straight games, so keep this in mind when assessing fantasy value.
Marcus Bontempelli
Questionable Saturday
MWestern Bulldogs
Knee
September 5, 2021
Bontempelli (knee) is questionable for Saturday's game against Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Bontempelli sustained a knee injury in Saturday's win over Brisbane and underwent further tests that revealed no structural damage. He'll continue to be examined throughout the week and is labeled a test ahead of the Preliminary Final.
Cody Weightman
Ruled out Saturday
FWestern Bulldogs
Concussion
September 5, 2021
Weightman (concussion) has been ruled out for Saturday's contest against Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Weightman suffered a concussion in Saturday's win over Brisbane and will be unavailable in the Preliminary Final. It's not yet clear when he could return.
Jack Macrae
Stars in classic
MWestern Bulldogs
September 4, 2021
Macrae scored one goal to go with 39 disposals (27 kicks, 12 handballs) and made five tackles during Saturday's 79-78 win over Brisbane.
ANALYSIS
Macrae's numbers are usually gaudy but this time another near-40-disposal effort was integral to his team coming away with the victory. With Marcus Bontempelli banged up and not playing to his best, keep an eye on Macrae over the rest of the finals.
Marcus Bontempelli
Hurts knee in win
MWestern Bulldogs
Knee
September 4, 2021
Bontempelli suffered a knee injury and logged 29 disposals (16 kicks, 13 handballs) to go with seven marks made during Saturday's 79-78 win over Brisbane.
ANALYSIS
Bontempelli is usually one of the top disposal-getters for his club and that usually doesn't change even with an injury. His all-around performances haven't been as stellar as they were earlier in the season, and an injury won't help things out over the rest of the finals.
Cody Weightman
Suffers concussion in win
FWestern Bulldogs
Concussion
September 4, 2021
Weightman suffered a concussion during Saturday's 79-78 win over Brisbane, according to Michael Whiting of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Weightman was a casualty of a tightly-contested match but he still managed to contribute one goal and one behind. He should be able to return for the Grand Final at the least if Western advance that far.
Hayden Crozier
Still out for semi-final
DWestern Bulldogs
Concussion
September 2, 2021
Crozier (concussion) is not in the lineup for Saturday's semi-final versus the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Crozier hasn't appeared in an AFL match since July 17 and doesn't seem likely to do so during the Bulldogs' Finals run either. He did have a few solid fantasy showings when available but seems unlikely to make the lineup even if he's healthy.
Zaine Cordy
Ready for semi-final
DWestern Bulldogs
August 31, 2021
Cordy (illness) will be available for Saturday's semi-final versus the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Cordy was a late withdrawal for last week's elimination final due to an illness but appears to be fit well ahead of Friday's match. He will presumably slot into the back half again for the Bulldogs.
Tom Liberatore
Game-high 130 fantasy points
MWestern Bulldogs
August 29, 2021
Liberatore fashioned 35 disposals, seven tackles and clearances each and five marks Sunday as Western defeated Essendon 85-36 in an elimination final at UTAS Stadium.
ANALYSIS
LIberatore tied Essendon's Darcy Parish as the match leader for disposals in no small part to a season-high equaling 19 handballs and registered his best mark aggregate in three appearances on Sunday. The 29 year-old's 130 fantasy points also paced all players in the contest and finds the the Bulldogs midfielder now ranked third on the team for fantasy score per game (90.3 points).
Aaron Naughton
Three goals in elimination final
FWestern Bulldogs
August 29, 2021
Naughton manufactured nine disposals, five marks, four tackles, three goals and a single goal assist Sunday as Western downed Essendon 85-36 in an elimination final at UTAS Stadium.
ANALYSIS
Naughton recorded five marks for a fourth-straight showing, matched a season-high for tackles and finished Sunday's contest one of four Bulldogs having accounted for multiple goals. The elimination final performance also lifted the 21 year-old forward to his best fantasy point output since Jun. 27 and finds him currently averaging 66.95 points a game on the year.
Cody Weightman
Career-high four majors v. Bombers
FWestern Bulldogs
August 29, 2021
Weightman tooled 12 disposals and a pair of marks and tackles each to go along with four majors Sunday as Western knocked off Essendon 85-36 in an elimination final at UTAS Stadium.
ANALYSIS
Weigtman pulled in double-digit disposals for a second-straight week and registered multiple marks for the 14th time this year on Sunday, but it was a game- and career-high four goals - including back-to-back scores in the third term - that left the 20 year-old the talk of the town. Weightman now looks toward a semi-final match with Brisbane on Sept. 4 currently ranked first among all AFL rising starts in score involvements (5.21) and goals (1.79) a showing.
Zaine Cordy
Late change due to illness
DWestern Bulldogs
Illness
August 28, 2021
Cordy (illness) will not play versus Essendon in Sunday's elimination final.
ANALYSIS
Cordy was a late change ahead of the match. Ryan Gardner will draw into the lineup in his place.
Stefan Martin
Off injury list
RWestern Bulldogs
August 24, 2021
Martin (groin) no longer appears on his club's injury list, according to AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Martin was able to get in a scratch match over the weekend and will hope he's selected for the final against Essendon. With only eight games played this season, Martin has chosen a good time to get healthy.
Ed Richards
Ruled out against Essendon
MWestern Bulldogs
Shoulder
August 22, 2021
Richards has been ruled out for this week's elimination final against Essendon due to a shoulder injury.
ANALYSIS
Richards suffered his injury in the second quarter of Saturday's match against Sydney, but he was able to remain in the game. However, he'll be unavailable for the elimination final, and a timetable for his return isn't yet clear.
Hayden Crozier
Unavailable against Essendon
DWestern Bulldogs
Concussion
August 22, 2021
Crozier will be unavailable for the elimination final against Essendon due to a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Crozier suffered his injury in the first quarter of Saturday's match against Sydney. He'll continue to work with the medical staff in the coming days, but he doesn't yet have a timetable to return.
Lachie Hunter
Takes 10 marks in loss
MWestern Bulldogs
August 20, 2021
Hunter scored one goal and two behinds to go with 22 disposals (17 kicks, five handballs) and 10 marks taken during Friday's 66-64 loss to Port Adelaide in Round 23.
ANALYSIS
Hunter isn't one to consistently get touches to record massive scores every week, but he can occasionally do things like this where he reaches double-digit marks. Should he be able to reproduce this effort early in the finals, Hunter will be another useful target from a struggling 'Dogs team.
Jack Macrae
Logs 29 disposals in loss
MWestern Bulldogs
August 20, 2021
Macrae logged 29 disposals (16 kicks, 13 handballs) to go with eight marks made and eight completed tackles from Friday's 66-64 loss to Port Adelaide in Round 23.
ANALYSIS
Macrae did his part but there wasn't enough defense down the stretch to keep the 'Dogs in front. With at least 115 fantasy points in four of his last five starts, Macrae figures to be a reliable asset early in the finals, though the chances of his team advancing on the back of three straight losses isn't as high.
Ryan Gardner
Available for selection
DWestern Bulldogs
August 17, 2021
Gardner (shoulder) will be available for selection in Round 23 against Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Gardner has only played in six games this season and would be a boost to the club's depth before the finals.
